underpin all Functional Skills qualifications, including the learning aims and outcomes that
learners must achieve.
The qualification specification provides a full understanding of the
subject content for the TQUK Functional Skills qualifications in maths at level 1 and level 2.

Assessment options
The following assessment methods are available to the learner:
• option 1: traditional face-to-face (paper-based)
• option 2: online, invigilated in person by the centre staff at the centre venue
• option 3: online, remotely invigilated by the Awarding Organisation.
Progression opportunities
Learners who achieve the TQUK Functional Skills Qualification in Maths at Level 1 or the
TQUK Functional Skills Qualification in Maths at Level 2 could progress to:
• GSCE mathematics
• further study for general or vocational qualifications at a suitable level
• further study at Level 2 (for example, the TQUK Functional Skills Qualification in
Maths at Level 2). Alternatively, these qualifications can play an essential role in the achievement of various
apprenticeships.
Centre approval
TQUK has a systematic, process-driven approach to centre approval for all qualifications,
including functional skills qualifications.
